Summary: During World War II, the fall of Stalingrad will mean the collapse of Russia. Synopsis: During World War II, the fall of Stalingrad will mean the collapse of Russia. The Germans and Russians are fighting over every block, leaving only ruins behind. Russia badly needs a hero; someone to believe in as the Nazi war machine presses on, gradually crushing the morale of the nation. The conflict begins to revolve around a battle of wits between two opposing snipers: the remarkably skilled Russian, Vassili (Jude Law), and the German, Major K?nig (Ed Harris). The two able assassins begin a one-on-one match for life, victory and history. Russian political officer Danilov (Joseph Fiennes) spurs Vassili on, publishing his efforts to give his countrymen some hope. But the marksman begins to feel he cannot live up to the expectations on him. Matters are further complicated when he and Danilov fall in love with the same female soldier, Tanya (Rachel Weisz). But, with the Battle of Stalingrad raging around them, the two gunmen must resolve their deadly duel.
