Synopsis: A.I. takes place only fifty years into the future, and a robotic engineer has already created a new type of computer that has consciousness. Due to an over-population crisis, he uses this form of artificial intelligence to create virtual "children" for adults who want kids or lost one of their own - children who could be programmed to love their adoptive parents. This is the story of one of these children (Haley Joel Osment), who is brought into a home, cared for and trained to love, only to discover that hes different from other people. Not understanding this, he is nevertheless cast out of his new home and forced to embark on a journey to find out if he can ever be a real little boy. During the course of his travels he finds places where man and machine interact like they never have before, where he discovers what has happened to humanity with the passage of time, and what will happen to his own kind.
