Robin Williams
Robin Williams You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.

Born July 21, 1952, in Chicago, Williams spent his childhood years in Michigan; his father was an executive at Ford Motor Company. Upon his father's early retirement, the family moved to California. Williams dropped out of political science studies to study drama at Juilliard School in New York City. He also began performing as a mime and a stand-up comedian on the West Coast club circuit.

Williams had much success with stand-up during the 1970s, including a stint at Los Angeles' Comedy Store in his own showcase. He landed a guest role on sitcom Happy Days as Mork, a lovable alien. Before too long, he had brought the character to his own spin-off sitcom, Mork + Mindy (1978-82).

Williams' film career started slowly: he made his film debut in the disappointing Popeye (1980). Though acclaimed for such performances as he gave in The World According to Garp
