Robbie Coltrane This uninhibited, tubby comedy actor has been brightening British cinema for more than a decade, often providing expert comic relief. Some may also recall him as Russian gangster Valentin Dmitrovich Zukovsky in the James Bond films GoldenEye (1995) and The World Is Not Enough (1999). The tall, burly actor won legions of new fans after appearing as the sweet-natured gamekeeper Hagrid in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001). He reprises the role for the sequel Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Born Robert McMillan in Glasgow, Coltrane was the only son of a teacher mother and a physician father. During his adolescence, he used comedy to deflect playground taunts and contemplated following in his older sister's wake as an artist. But he gradually drifted towards film. In 1973, he made a 50-minute documentary titled Your Mental Health that earned awards and critical notice.
